Great to see Australia attracting more major productions with the Pacific Rim sequel, Pacific Rim: Maelstrom currently filming in New South Wales and Queensland. Pacific Rim: Maelstrom is the follow-up to the 2013 blockbuster Pacific Rim (trailer above), in which a future Earth battled in giant mechas called 'Jaegers' against an invading monster alien race known as the 'Kaiju'.
With films such as Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales and Thor: Ragnarok recently wrapping up production, and with Alien: Covenant looking to start filming in Sydney soon as well as Aquaman on the Gold Coast, it's a real testament to the talent of the local industry that so many productions want to come to Australia. Brisbane itself has also been impressing of late as a stand in for various cities, namely New York City for Thor: Ragnarok and now Tokyo for Pacific Rim: Maelstrom.
